Questions about investing directors

What the appointments involve, what they cost, and what we are and are not.

    What is an investing director?

A non-executive director, adviser or C-suite executive, full-time or part-time, who invests their own money in the company they join. The seat and the stake come together, so the appointee carries the same outcome as the founder.

How much do I have to invest to join a board?

You set your own range when you apply, from £25,000 to over £1m. The company states what it expects alongside the seat, and we only introduce you where the two overlap. Investment alignment is weighted heavily in matching, but it remains preference-based on both sides — nothing obliges you to invest in a company you meet.

Does it cost anything to join as a director?

No. Registering is free. Paid membership tiers add priority introductions, structuring support and community access, at £600, £750 or £1,200 a year at founding rates. Founding rates are held for as long as you stay a member.

How much does a non-executive director search cost a company?

First Board is £6,950 and Board Build is £12,500, both fixed and both excluding VAT. Larger governance mandates are quoted on the brief. We never charge a percentage of funds raised.

What is the £750 board gap diagnostic?

A written review of your board as it stands: what is missing at your stage, the next three appointments you should make, and in what order, delivered within a week. If you appoint through us, the £750 is credited in full against the fee.

Will my identity be visible while I browse opportunities?

No. Directors appear as an anonymous investing director until both sides accept an introduction. Names, companies and contact details are exchanged only after that.

    Who is in the network?

4,836 directors, advisers and executives have registered their interest and indicated a combined investment appetite of over £241m. That is a stated appetite, not committed capital.

How many placements have you made?

Eight investing directors and advisers, across two companies. We publish the record as it stands rather than rounding it up.

Are you regulated by the FCA?

No. investingdirectors.com is a trading name of Sustainable Wealth Group Limited, which is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. We make introductions and run search mandates. We do not give investment advice, arrange or deal in investments, hold client money or take carry.

Do EIS and SEIS reliefs apply to these investments?

They may, depending on the company and your own circumstances. Whether an investment qualifies, and whether a paid board role affects it, is a matter for the company's advisers and your own. We cannot advise on it.
